Dumont has now said they will keep the pick and will draft Flagg. What an unbelievable sequence of events. He is so good and so young that it does lead to your question of how will they handle this gift. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on their options. I saw one writer from the Athletic say he was the best US born draft pick since AD and Zion.
I am really curious about how this changes the strategy of the new ownership and how much weight this adds to Cuban's voice in the upcoming future. I read that he and Dumont were on the phone together celebrating their luck.
Look forward to seeing how Nico shapes the roster around Flagg and what he does with PJ. Probably needs to package up some guys and get a ball handler that can unlock some of these bigs and push tempo. Flagg looks like he got some upside as a passer.
Yeah PJ at first glance seems same archetype/position. Personally I would still have lengthy wings around AD, than AD+a big. Interesting dilemmas coming up…
Iztok, as always, I enjoy your stories your thoughts, your opinions. I believe.Flagg plays the 3 giving Mavs a 2nd 🏀 handler on the floor. I posted a question to a few people yesterday making me believe. Does this put PJ and in play for a trade. Extending Gafford due to Lively injury history. Plus it keeps AD at the 4 not the 5. It would also help the Mavericks get another point guard in a trade while Kyrie is coming back from injury. B-Will is getting use to starting. Thank you for the opportunity to read the story. I will definitely be subscribing. I always enjoy reading your stories. Have a great day and thanks again.
Thanks as always Joseph! Like I wrote, so many questions, we are all asking. But very exciting ones. I'm sure there will be re-shuffling, not only because of needs & roster imbalance (need guards/shooting/ball-handling), but also because adding no.1 pick has salary cap implications. A lot of content & analysis material going forward...
Look forward to hearing your thoughts always very insightful as a day one math fan from back in 1980. Can’t imagine ownership will allow Nico to squander another generational player. After the backlash they received with the Luca trade. I’m still waiting to hear about this person. They’re supposed to be hiring that is supposed to be working with Nico because the Adelson and Dumont family don’t feel he is competent enough for the draft and for making trades. They didn’t say that that’s how I interpreted it. Like a Dennis Lindsey
This is insane. I think it’s proof that we live in a simulation, and the coders are basically just leaving Easter Eggs for themselves. 🤣
haha...like the analogy

Should be a really interesting summer for sure!
I’m just so happy to have some positive Mavs energy instead of being constantly reminded of how Nico and Dumont almost killed this franchise.
Absolutely
