Iztok, it's correlation (that is determination coefficient) between the measure in college and nba, right? i'd imagine, the next step is to have all the stuff from the college as predictors of NBA performance (either in regression or some kind of ML).
not sure i get the excitement about knechts draft measures. if he knew how to translate his physical gifts, he would have been better defender in college. it's not unlike with o-max last year.
also, did vando really have 20% offensive rebs rate?
v informative for somebody who doesnt follow college and draft in general. thanks.
Hey Merim, I'm not sure I understand the first part 100%. Basically I ran regression models for all stats and what you see on the chart are R2 values, which yes means higher correlation.
For Knecht, as I wrote in the article, it was just a surprising things that accidentally popped up during my analysis. And I hope he can use some of that athleticism better (but I fully understand, even share your concerns).
For Vando yes then ORB% number is correct, but the sample for him, his total minutes played in college is the smallest. So skewed. He had OK, to good OREB% rates in NBA, was at 11.9% last year with the Lakers which is 83 percentile for bigs.
