Once again, thanks for all your insights. I look forward to your continued reports on both the Lakers, Mavs, and Luka

Will try to keep them coming Terry, and thanks!

Are there metrics that can quantify that aspect of his game? How would you approach that?

He is the most blitzed player in pick-and-roll over the last couple of seasons. Blitz creates the ultimate 4-on-3 advantage. So that's on of top of my head right now. Generating corner 3s is another one...Mavs have always been at the top of the league in corner 3 frequency bc of Luka, until this season. So, that's another. You've seen lob passes last year...another consequence of reacting to the ball-handler.

When it comes to floor spacing and his ability to pinpoint shooters after collapsing the defense, Luka is one of the best we’ve ever seen, right? To me that is a huge aspect that is under appreciated. I wonder what the numbers might be to back that up. Watching others make a pass but it getting fumbled or have no space is dimming my outlook. The geometry is just different now.

yeah, just his ability to make the defense adjust, keep them in rotation is huge. And then off that, to make every possible pass to not lose that advantage...even with Kyrie watch him get double-teamed and because he is so smaller, he can pass over, and the advantage would get lost, or not be as big as with Luka.

No lie, this is a day Mavs fans will talk about like Viking fans speak of the Herschel trade. For as long as Luka is playing we will rue this day. Forever linked. Lakers have been big brother to Mavs for too long. I’m afraid we went down a tier in the WC

Iztok, you are wrong. it is the luka trade.

a few years from now people will have to search for the name of the clown who traded luka.

I'm not sure that's true. I, for one, will never forget the clown's name that traded Luka!

It's funny how the view of Nico shifted immediately based on this one trade. He had built up a lot of good will with fans for his maneuvering during his time here to create a time built around Luka, and then traded Luka. What a bizarre trade. Evidently he also tried to trade Luke for Giannis and then for Ant.

Still sad about Luka and Lakers, but if you were to identify one aspect of Luka’s game that will most sorely be missed, what would you say? I might say ability to perform in clutch situations. (Stopping runs, last second possessions, close out). What say you?

I think just the overall load, ability to be the number one option every game, from the first possession of the game. To be the guy that 70% of opposing game plan is about, to be able to generate good possessions, so create advantages on majority of the plays. That's where I think it's gonna get hard for Kyrie as the season progresses and esp in the playoffs.

Players of this magnitude just have such gravity and attract so much attention that it pulls the whole defense in or makes them adjust that the rest of the cast has open opportunities.
